What Monese has shown on monitored routes
A win requires a completed, non-promotional quote at the same sending amount. Converter rates and modelled bank prices remain useful evidence, though neither is allowed to wear the winner's badge.
Where Monese makes sense
- Best for
- Customers who use the account, card and transfers regularly across the UK and Europe.
- Less suitable for
- A one-off transfer where a subscription or plan allowance adds unnecessary cost.
- Where the rate cost sits
- Plan-based currency conversion and transfer pricing shown in the app.
- What the fee tells you
- Monthly plan and usage charges vary. International transfer allowances and conversion fees depend on plan.
- Delivery
- Account and bank-transfer timing depends on currency and destination.
- Access
- Mobile GBP and euro accounts with cards and international features.
How Monese's quote can flatter or disappoint
Monese is best understood as an account subscription, not a standalone transfer engine. Someone using its card and account every week may spread the monthly cost across several benefits. Someone sending £200 once cannot.
The transfer review therefore needs the customer's plan and remaining allowance. A no-extra-fee transfer on a paid plan is not economically free, but nor should the entire monthly fee be assigned to one payment for a regular user.
Where no current public quote can be captured, we show Monese as unavailable rather than borrowing a rate from a different plan or date.
Where it works well
- Accessible mobile-account proposition
- Useful for cross-border residents
- Account and transfer features together
Where the value thins out
- Plan pricing complicates one-transfer comparisons
- Public live quotes are limited
- Coverage is narrower than a global specialist

What to price beside Monese
Revolut can be very good value for an existing customer exchanging within the plan allowance. Go beyond that allowance, or exchange at the weekend, and the apparently simple price develops rather more moving parts.
Read the Revolut rate review →Wise remains the cleanest yardstick for an ordinary bank transfer. It uses the mid-market rate and places its charge in view, so there is less detective work between the advertised rate and the amount delivered.
Read the Wise rate review →Starling is unusually straight with UK customers: a 0.4% conversion charge sits beside the delivery fee. That does not always make it cheapest, but it does spare customers the usual bank-rate archaeology.

These pages describe the published terms. The corridor table is gathered separately, so a provider's explanation never substitutes for the quote it gives us.
