NatWest Business rates: what you pay, and what you get for it

NatWest Business keeps permissions and payment records inside Bankline, which has genuine value. Its £15 payment fee swallows 7.5% of a £200 transfer before the exchange-rate margin gets involved.

THE PRICE VERDICT

How NatWest Business's quote can flatter or disappoint

NatWest Business illustrates the difference between banking convenience and transfer value. A company may prefer to keep supplier payments inside Bankline because staff permissions, statements and audit trails are already there. That operational value is real.

The rate comparison remains unforgiving. A £15 payment fee consumes 7.5% of a £200 test before the FX margin. On a larger payment the fixed fee matters less, while the margin becomes the main cost. Both belong in the recipient calculation.

The NatWest calculator provides useful public evidence for selected currencies. We treat those figures as modelled bank pricing and link to the captured screen, rather than describing a published reference rate as a guaranteed customer execution.

Where the value thins out

  • £15 is large against a £200 payment
  • FX margin is another cost

What to price beside NatWest Business

ST
NatWest Business or Starling Bank?

Starling is unusually straight with UK customers: a 0.4% conversion charge sits beside the delivery fee. That does not always make it cheapest, but it does spare customers the usual bank-rate archaeology.

WI
NatWest Business or Wise?

Wise remains the cleanest yardstick for an ordinary bank transfer. It uses the mid-market rate and places its charge in view, so there is less detective work between the advertised rate and the amount delivered.

LB
NatWest Business or Lloyds Bank Business?

Lloyds deserves credit for printing the number. Its standard 2.60% margin on outbound business payments up to £25,000 is still a bit steep beside many specialist quotes.
